Bloom

When my oldest daughter was opening her birthday card, my granddaughter asked what she had. When she was told it was her birthday card, she wanted to know why she didn't have a springtime flower card - awe- ! So of coarse, Grammie had to make her one !

The flower, 4.75 inches and sentiment, .8 inches are  from Create a Critter  I sponged all the edges and added some gel pen dots and dashes. I think she will like it, I used her favorite colors, pink and purple.
I will be anxious to hear her reaction to getting her own springtime card in the mail!

As always, thanks for stopping by :)

Dragonfly Birthday Card

My youngest daughter's birthday was yesterday ~ yup oldest on the 23rd, youngest on the 24th! It has never been a problem as the girls are very close and have always loved celebrating their days together.
For my youngest I was so happy to see a new dragonfly image on the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge.
I cut the card feature out at 5.25 inches. I set it up on my Gypsy so I could use the hide contour feature and hide the score line cuts. I really don't like having those little slits show on the finished project.

The banner is and flower is from the AP cart also. For the banner, I cut the top layer at 1.35 Then for the shadow layer I unlinked the chain and adjusted the height and length separately - height 1.70 and length 3.81.
This gave me a shadow that I was happy with. Then I used a CTMH stamp for the sentiment and attached with  pop dots.
The flowers are from AP and are cut at 1.0 , 1.25 , 1.5 and held together with a rhinestone brad that I've been hoarding forever. Before attaching to the card I cut a small piece of ribbon and put behind the flower.
I cut a small piece of brown poka dot paper and put behind the dragonfly cutout to make it stand out.

The last thing I did was a little bit of white gel pen dots on the corners.

We gave the card to her last night and she loved it !! Of coarse !!

Sunflower Card

For my oldest daughter's birthday, I chose the scallop circle card from Art Philosophy. I cut it at 4.25 inches along with the layers I used. I sponged the edges, added some Stickles and white gel pen dots.

This is one of the quickest cards I have done and I love how it came out !!

As always, thanks for stopping by :)

First Card using....

my Close To My Heart new Consultant kit! I finally had time to start playing with all the goodies that I received when I signed up as new consultant. There is sooo much good stuff you get that I didn't know where to start. I have to tell you I was convinced by the offer of the free Art Philosophy bundle that is part of the offer to new consultants during the month of March. I was on line on March 1st to sign up!

Okay, on to my card... First the pictures...

The flower , leaf and sentiment are from the Spring set that comes in the New Consultant Kit. The flourish in the banner is from the Celebration set that comes with the Art Philosophy bundle. The flower is found on page  57 <Flower 3> . The rounded banner is on page 39 < Banner3> . The smaller banner is on page 68 < Banner 1>. The leaves were stamped and hand cut by hand, They are all cut at the size that is printed on the stamp sheet that corresponds with the image. I sponged all the edges with Cocoa ink. It is that easy to make your own embellishments!

The ivory card stock, ribbon, brad and marker used for the stitching lines, are from my stash of goodies. everything else is CTMH.

I will have to learn not use too many cuts and stamps on one project.... it's going to be easy to go overboard :)
If you have any questions about my card or CTMH products, please leave a comment or email me.

As always, thanks for stopping by :)

CWWC Challenge #14

The new challenge is up at Crafting When We Can and it's a fun one !  One for the Boys !  Our sponsor this week is  Some Odd Girl. If this is a new company for you, as it was to me, I think you will like all the awesome images they offer. They have both clear stamps and digi's ~ Something for everyone :)

I don't often make masculine cards just for fun, so this challenge is a good push for me. I used my Cricut to make the main image. It's from Nate's ABCs and is cut at 2.5 inches with all the layers. I sponged the edges to give it a little more depth and used dimensionals to attach to the card front. On the top I used some paper that I think is from DCWV but I can;t be sure as it's been in my paper box for a looonnngg time :) I added a small strip of brown cardstock along one edge for more definition. The punches and sentiment are from Stampin Up. I tied some hemp around the top and attached the tag to it. The 3 red circles are punches and then covered with Glossy Accents.

The rest of the CWWC design team has more great examples for you to be inspired by, so I hope you will go check them out and then create your own One for the Boys and play along !

Spring Blooms

Can't believe spring is almost here! Our winter here in New Jersey has been so mild it's seemed like spring since our only real snow storm ~ on Halloween !

For this  weeks challenge - Spring Blooms - I decided to make a flower pot card. I know, this is so last year, but I never got around to making one. I followed the great tutorial found at Splitcoaststampers.

I set my flowers, from Create A Critter, up on the Gypsy to cut at 3 inches. I used papers from Stampin Up's Salebration.

I assembled the flowers, inked the edges and added some tiny paper flowers with brads in the center.
The sentiments are from Stampin Up as is the ink and ribbon.

My project for today is an invitation. My granddaughter is totally taken with the movie Tangled. This is my take on that theme.

I started with the doll, dress and hair from Paper Doll Dress Up. The doll and dress are cut at 3". For the hair, I unlinked the height and width and set the height to 5"

The face is a Peachy Keen stamp. I added glitter gel pen to the hair and white to the dress.

The background is from my rather large collection of clip art from PCrafters ( no longer around :(  ) The artist is Carolee Jones. I printed this twice so I could layer one part of the hill.

The tower is part of the castle from Once Upon a Princess - Cut at 5".  I cut it away from the castle , embossed with the Herringbone folder and sanded it. The ivy is from Paper Doll Dress Up and is cut at 2". I cut the ivy in 2 shades of green.

The sun is from Disney Family. I printed the template, colored it and added some Glitter gel pen.

The you're invited is done on the computer and the inside is a stamp from AC Moore.

I hope I haven't left anything out:)

I have blog candy for you too ! $15.00 Gift Card to the winners choice... Micheals, AC Moore or Hobby Lobby! Please be a follower and leave me a comment, that's it ! I will draw the winner on Wednesday the 14th.

Luck of the Irish

Hello everyone. This weeks theme at SweetSassyDiva is Luck of the Irish. I can't tell you how much being on this design team has helped me grow as a crafter. I have tried so many new things and this project is one of them.... cutting vinyl to use as a stencil to etch glass. It is something I have wanted to try for a long time and now I have. For me there is a HUGE learning curve and I know that I can only improve :)

First I used the kiss method to cut the vinyl - blade depth at 3, pressure at 3 and I set the speed at med. The images I used are from A Childs Year cut at 1.5".  I used the negative cut for the hat  and the positive for the shamrock. I punched out a scalloped circle and used the negative to put around the shamrock on one of the jars. I had a brilliant idea to color the etched area with my Copic marker... well that didn't come out quite liked I had hopes... way to blotchy for my taste.

On the second jar I just used the negative of the shamrock and am happy with it.

There are a couple of things I would do differently next time..
1st work on something bigger
2nd work on something flatter
3rd not walk away for 30 minutes and let the etching cream drip down off the vinyl and leave an etched line where you don't want it :)
4th  learn how to take better pictures of something that has been etched

I will  be trying this etching glass thing again and next time I will take more photos to share the process with you!

As always, thanks for stopping by :)

CWWC Challenge #13 Animals

The challenge this week at Crafting When We Can is to use animals. We are being sponsered by

My image is called the Paisley Peacock and I am positive that I have never tried to color a mor3 detailed image! I decided to print it as large as I could and make it the total focus of my card. I used Stampin Up markers because I had the most colors to choose from and I  knew I wasn't going to attempt to do any shading here :)

The rest of the CWWC design team has made some wonderful cards inspire you so,I hope you will find an animal image of any kind, stamped, digi, or cut and play along with us !

Button Up!

Hello everyone ! Mindy from Grammies Craft Room with a Button Up project  to share with you. I had a hard time deciding what direction to go with this challenge. I had  a Cricut cut in mind when I first saw this theme but of coarse when I went to actually make it I couldn't find it!! Has that happened to you??

I ended up using the 'Button' function key on the Paisley cartridge on page 33.

I cut it in 3 sizes  2", 2.25" and 2.5"  The middle is cut at 2" but I moved it to cut out in the  same paper as the second layer.  I inked all the edges and attached with glue only in the center of each layer.

The  button is from my button box :) with a piece of hemp tied through it.
The sentiment is from Stampin Up with Early Espresso ink. The ribbon is Sage Shadow (ret) from Stampin Up.
I stamped Crumb Cake card stock - SU - with a SU stamp using Crumb Cake ink - SU
The patterned paper is from DCWV - Linen Closet stack .

Someday maybe my photography skills will improve and the pictures will do the image justice! I can tell you this card looks so much better in person! I am very happy with the way it turned out !
