I decided to do a rather unconventional gift for a baby shower.... a banner with the baby's name. When I started to plan it out, the only thing I was sure of was I didn't want the traditional triangle shape. So I started to check out all my Cricut handbooks. When I came across the paisley shape from the Paisley cartridge, I knew I had found my background.
I cuttlebugged the pink layer with the swiss dots folder, made rossettes and inked the edges.( I ended up digging out my hot glue gun - gasp !! - to hold those beautiful yet hard to hold together rosettes ! )The letters for the name are from Nursery Rhyme.
The papers are Stampin Up and DCWV.
The felt flowers are Stampin Up.
The little girl cuts are from Kate's ABC's. I attached the white satin ribbon to the center of the paisley shape with brads and covered them on the back with a circle punched from the brown cardstock. I used glue dots and a tiny flower brad to attach the girls to the ribbon. I tried several different adhesives to attach the felt flowers to the ribbon and finally ended up using fabric glue.
I added a few gems, a little bit of stickles and brown bows and called it done.
I sewed small bone rings to the white ribbon about 14 inches away on each end and then stiched the white bows to them.
The time and effort I put into this project was well worth it as the mom-to-be really seemed to like it :)
I made a card to go with this, but will save that for my next post...
As always, thanks for stopping by.
