Cricut and Close To My Heart Card Holder Tutorial

Today, I am starting a project that was made easier and better after learning from  a mistake I made and told you about HERE.

The Card Holder is made from the CTMH Cricut  Artiste cartridge, cut at 6 inches. The papers are from the Dream Pop promotion pack that unfortunately is no longer available.

.

I made another mistake while figuring the dimensions for the base. I wanted it to be 1.5 inches tall, but instead of adding 3 inches to the lenght and width I only added 1.5 inches so when I scored at 1.5 inches on each side I realized I had done THAT wrong ( you can see the extra score lines ) But I fixed it and  scored again at 3/4" on all sides, clipped up to the score line as shown and glued the flaps on the inside.

The three folders fit very nicely inside the base and the measuring mistake turned out to be for the beast as the circle labels wouldn't have worked if the base was any taller.

The labels are cut from Art Philosophy at 1 1/4 inch and stamped in Slate - Z2173, and Lagoon - Z2195 using the Perfect Fit - Birthday B1417 and a set that I think came in my new consultant kit.

Tomorrow I will start showing the cards that go in this cheerful card holder. Please let me know if you have any questions on how this was put together,

As always, thanks for stopping by :)

Learning from a Mistake

I hope I can help some of you from making this same mistake some time down the road. The mistake of using the wrong type of adhesive on a project. After I cut this very cute  Card Holder  from the Cricut Artiste cartridge, found on page 47, I used a white glue to  put it together instead of my ATG dispenser or any other type of two sided tape. As you can see from the photos, the white glue caused my very cute folder to warp dreadfully. The paper is Close To My Heart Chantilly - X7163B ( it will be available in the new Autumn/Winter Idea book also! ) the stamp set is Crafted with Love - B1399 and the tag is cut from the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.

I made this as a trial run for for a larger project that I will be showing you in the next few days. I hope you will come by tomorrow to see what I have been working on.

As always, thanks for stopping by :)

Dream Pop, Pinwheel and Cricut Artiste

Good Morning !

Today's card was made using CTMH Dream Pop Paper, Pinwheel SOTM and the Cricut Artiste cartridge.

I stamped the pinwheels, that were cut from Artiste at the size shown on the stamp sheet, with Cotton Candy and Buttercup. I used some gel pend to highlight a bit on each one.The sentiment was stamped with Hollyhock. I made the small Pompom with Darice baker's twine that I got from AC Moore.

This card came together very quickly since I had some of the pinwheel shapes already precut and ready for stamping.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this project, so please, leave some comments!

Lots of Cricut Cuts

I have spent most of today and a few hours yesterday cutting the images from 21 of my Close To My Heart stamp sets that have matching stamps. When I started this little project yesterday, I figured I was looking at 2 to 3 hours. Well, after 9 hours I still have 4 sets left to do, but my back needed a break!

I know I am a visual person, so I  have a couple of pictures to show what I have been doing.

The original sets that go with the Art Philosophy cartridge had no reference page numbers with the images, so I had to find the corresponding cuts in the handbook first, then find the button and creative feature they are on. Since I was doing all of this in the Cricut Craft Room, I was able to use the auto-fill feature and get lots of the same cuts at a time.
After CTMH came out with the Artiste cartridge, they helped us out and put the page number next to the image. So all I had to do with these sets was put the button and feature next to them
I think I did 3 or 4 sets before I got smart and did a layer for each cut or 2 on a layer, depending on the size. Then I saved each project by cartridge name and stamp set name.

Now I have 6 or more cuts for each stamp so when I get the urge to make a card all I have to do is pick the paper, colors, embellishments, etc, but the Cricut part is already done!!.

The new Close To My Heart Cricut cartridge, Artbooking, will be available to order August 1st.!

This new cartridge has full size scrapbook layouts, titles, albums and a great font.It will come with 3 stamps sets and  3 pages of chipboard precuts .

If you would like the Craft Room files for any of the stamps that I have, please leave me a comment, or email me and I will try to figure out how to share them !

Summer Wreath

I finally got this wreath finished so I can take down my winter one ! The flowers are made with cuts from Cricut Close To My Heart Art Philosophy, Cricut Close To My Heart Artiste and Cricut Flower Shop cartridges in sizes from 1.5 inches to 5.8 inches. The paper is from various stacks from my 'collection'.
The leaves are CTMH Sweet Leave cut from Artiste cut at .75 inch and stamped in New England Ivy with the leaves from the June Stamp of the Month.

I used hot glue to attach all the flowers and leaves to a 12 inch green foam wreath form that I got at Walmart.

The Yellow ribbon is from The Christmas Tree Shop.

If you haven't tackled a wreath yet, I hope this one gives you some ideas to do one of your own.

Card Gift Set

As I was wandering around Pinterest, just looking for a few minutes... yea right, more like an hour, I ran across a few great inspiration pieces. The first is this easy to make card box.

The tutorial can be found at Fabulously Artsy

The flower is from Cricut Flower Shoppe Cartridge

Here are the cards I put in it.

The cuts are from Close To My Heart Art Philosophy, the stamps are from Close To My Heart and SU.

I'm sorry about the poor photos of the cards. I was rushing out the door to the birthday party they were for, when I realized I hadn't taken any pictures.

I love how easy to assemble this box is . I will be making more of these for sure !

As always, thanks for stopping in :)

Crafty Organizing

I just love when I can combine my crafting and organizing into one project. I have been accumulating a lot of extra Cricut cuts and putting them in a boring old envelope. So when Crafty Organizing was chosen for the theme this week at SweetSassyDiva , I decided to make something fun, useful and decorative to store them in.

I started by making the inside pocket pages using a piece of 12 x 12 " paper. Score and fold as shown on the photos.

I used my Bind It All to put this book together.

The cover is just a light weight chipboard covered with black card stock.

I used Cricut Craft Room to size and cut out the image and phrase -  from Cricut Everyday sized at 3".

I wanted to be able sort the cuts by theme, so I cut out tabs from From My Kitchen to attach to each page.

I wrote on the labels then attached with a strong adhesive.

And the finished book... with a few embellishments.

Cartridges used:

Cricut Everyday
From My Kitchen

This was a fun project make and can be changed up in lots of ways to fit other needs. Please come back this week and see some more great crafty organizing projects!

A Grandparent is..

very proud!!! I am lucky to have 2 wonderful grandkids. As you will see in my layout, they both have a huge smile and are full of fun.
Hi everyone, I'm bringing you my 3rd layout. It's for this weeks SweetSassyDiva's theme - A Grandparent is.... I told my daughter that it is much easier to do these when you have great pictures !

I started with my Gypsy and Cricut Alphabet to make my letters. I put circles sized at 1 inch on my mat then added the letters inside... sized at .52. I grouped the circle and letter together and cut out. I then added more 1 inch circles and cut them out in brown to go behind the cream letter circles.

I inked all the edges with brown then arranged and attached. The sticker is from Close To My Heart.

It's so easy to love a project that has pictures of my wonderful grandkids :)

Glitter!!!

This is the easiest theme we've had so far at SweetSassy Diva! Who doesn't LOVE to add glitter to a project?

I got the original instructions from SplitcoastStampers.

I started by cutting my flowers from the Art Philosophy cartridge, pages 29 & 57. I stamped them with the corresponding Close To My Heart set Hooray Bouquet ( D1491).

Then I cut my cardstock and patterned paper as shown on the photos.

Glitter was added to the bird, flower and the dots of the I's.

I hope you enjoyed this glittery theme and as always, thanks for stopping by :)
