Let's Get Sketchy!

Hello everyone! . The Challenge this week at SweetSassyDiva is to use a sketch, and the one that Jennifer provided is awesome. I'm sure I will be pulling it out often.

 I started out by placing my border cuts - from Ribbons and Rosettes - on my Gypsy. The larger on is the 2 x 6 inch  and the two smaller ones are 1 x 6 inch. I cut them out from 2 different papers, both from Hobby Lobby, to have a choice of layering, 

Next I used Paper Trimmings for the square - sized at 2 inches and the corner which is 1.5 inches, cutting both in red and white cardstock.
I only used the shadow cut for the corner, as once again I wanted it just a little to small for the cut to come out right. I ended up using the little hearts that were left on the mat from the 2 inch border, for the top layer of the corner.

I used heart stamps from Stampin Up on the patterned papers and punched out with the Stampin Up punch.

The sentiment is also from SU and punched with their punches as well.

The only other embellishments I used was Glossy Accents and some Tim Holz ink on the edges of the border cuts.

I used dimensionals to pop up the square, the corner and the sentiment.

Winter Blues

 It's time to look those ole winter blues straight in the eye and make something out of them ! That's the theme this week at SweetSassyDiva ... make any type project that uses the Cricut and blue as the main color.

I pulled out an old favorite and two new cartridges for this card. The card base is from Wild Card and is cut at 4.75. I set it up on my Gypsy so I could hide the score marks.

I added dots and accented the swirl cuts with my white gel pen.
The rosette is from Ribbon and Rosettes, sized at 1.5". I welded 3 together and then 2 together. I probably could have used two cuts of the 3 welded pieces to make it just a bit fuller. I will try that next time. I punched a 1" circle from the Ballet Blue and one of the flowers from the Baja Punch from Stampin Up added a tiny flower brad to the center and hot glued it to the rosette. I cut a strip of white .75" x 11" to make the band and glued the rosette to the center.

The inside cut is from Paper Trimmings - a Cricut Circle exclusive. I have to say this is by far my favorite Circle cartridge. It has so many great features and useful cuts. This one is from the square feature cut at 4.75". The only thing I added to it was a stamped sentiment from Stampin Up.

I was given this wonderful image from The Stamping Boutique and I immediately thought of the Jetsons and knew I had to try something sort of Retro. Well if you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that retro isn't really in my comfort zone. I don't remember doing any other project in this style....but I must say, I kind of like how this card tuned out.

It's a 5 1/4 " square card using papers from DCWV Mod-Retro stack. The ribbon is from my stash and the sentiment I did on the computer.

Christmas Thank You

I don't know about you, but I feel that when someone has gone to the time and trouble to give you a special gift, they should receive a special thank you. So the theme this week at SweetSassyDive is 'Thanks For The Gift'.

The card base is from Birthday Bash, cut at 5". The presents are from Christmas Cheer and are cut at 1.5". The paper and ribbon are from my collection. The sentiment and image are Stampin Up and the punch is Stampin Up xlg oval . 

This card was very quick to put together, after I got the  presents cut.... when will I learn to NOT try to cut things smaller than my Cricut likes to cut them????? Oh well... it all worked in the end :)

I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year !!! Being a part of this AMAZING design team is such a great treat for me. I can't wait to see what new and exciting projects are in store for 2012!!

The Last of My Christmas Cards

Well, I had planned on sharing my Christmas cards one or two at a time over several days... you know, get that old blog count up... :) but I just flat out ran of time. I felt good about getting the cards finished on time and the pictures taken. The snag came when I tried to find minutes here and there to write the posts. Just didn't happen. So instead of them sitting on my computer for a whole year, I am sharing them ALL with you ... today :)

All of the above images are from Laurie Furnell. I bought them a few years ago from PCrafters. I printed several of each image so I could layer them.

This one is for my granddaughter. The card base and the image is from A Childs Year.

This is almost totally from Stampin Up. I pretty much copied the design exactly from Catherine Pooler

This last one is a print and go card I purchased from Aimee Asher

Now I want to share what my daughter was doing while I was locked in my craft room.

 I am so glad she likes to make the cookies !!

Let It Snow !

 This weeks theme at SweetSassyDiva is Let It Snow... make something with a snowflake, snowball, snowman... you get the idea, and of course, use your Cricut !
I am afraid we aren't going to have a white Christmas here in New Jersey, so I had to make my snowman from paper. I scraplifted this idea from a fellow blogger, but I am sorry to say I didn't save the site. So I am sending out a big thank you to whoever it was :)

I kind of got carried away with the snow theme... snow globe, snowman, snow flakes.

I started with the snow globe from Doodlecharms - sized at 4.23, copied, flipped and welded together.

  The outer circle was done using a tag from Doodlecharms, sized at 3.72

and a second one cut at 3.24, centered inside the first one

                                       
           
  The trees are from Winter Woodland sized 2.41.

                                     
  The snowman is from Christmas Cheer, cut a t 2.41

           After some stickles, puffy paint, gel pen and ribbon I was happy with my snowman, snow globe.

Friendship Challenge

Challenge #8 at Crafting When We Can is Friendship being sponsored by Kenny K .

I am using the Kenny K image Holla Back Girl. When I first saw it I thought of my granddaughter and new it  was for me.

I have made an altered composition book for her. Because she is almost 7 and loves things that have lots of colors and patterns, I have done something WAY out of my zone and mixed lots of colors and patterned papers.

All supplies are from my stash, and added bonus, using up 'stuff '

I colored the image with Stampin Up chalks.

It has lots of glitter and bling, just the way Tori likes it !

Need a Hostess Gift Idea?

Hello everyone, today I am sharing a favorite project of mine.... a Tissue Box Cover......that can be decorated for any theme or holiday that you need. They make a perfect Hostess /Housewarming gift, which is the challenge for the design team at SweetSassyDiva this week. The wonderful directions can be found  at Splitcoaststampers. I have shared this tutorial many times because Diane has done such a great job describing the easy steps to make this versatile home decor accent.

I used my E2 and Imagine to cut from Sophie and Trim the Tree cartridges.

 I am showing the screen shots you will see when you design and cut using the Cricut Craft Room.

The doily is sized at 4" and cut out perfectly on the E2.

Now we move on to the candy cane and the skate, both from Trim the Tree. These are cut at 2.5", and I am here to tell you that I will never cut anything on this cartridge this small again. I started out cutting them on the E2 with terrible results. I then moved over to the Imagine. They cut out better, but I still had LOTS of clean out work to do....moral of this tale.... make them BIGGER :)

I ran the red parts through my Zyron machine and the applied red glitter. If you haven't tried this method of applying glitter, I totally recommend it. The white doily was just to plain for my liking, so I wove thin ribbon through the tree edge and tied a bow. Then I glued that down too sides and added the skates and candy canes using dimensionals. Around the top edge I stamped snowflakes from My Pink Stamper with Versamark and heat embossed with white powder. I added stickles to the snowflakes and called it done.

Last Minute Treat Box

On Thanksgiving morning, my daughter asked me to make something to put cookies in to take as a hostess gift. Mind you she is asking this about 2 hours before needs it..... does this sound familiar to anyone??? Thank goodness I had received the Sweet Tooth Boxes cartridge in the mail a few days earlier.

Since this was so last minute, the houses are basically 'bare bones', but still turned out cute. I know I can make them ever so much cuter with some inking, buttons, ribbons and bows :)

 I started out by using the fit to page feature on my E2. After it was placed on the mat, I checked the size so I could cut the layers the same.

The only embellishing I did was on the sweets sign.... just some pen work.

Even though they are very plain, the recipients loved them.I can't wait to have the time to really do one of these up right !
